Statement of investment principles

What is a Statement of Investment Principles?

A statement of investment principles is a written statement governing decisions about investments for the purposes of an occupational pension scheme.

Who is responsible for the Statement of Investment Principles?

The trustee directors of the pension schemes must prepare and maintain the SIP.

Prior to preparing the SIP, the trustee directors must obtain and consider any written investment advice and consult the sponsoring employer of the scheme. A SIP review must take place at least every three years after any significant change in investment policy.
